Henry G. "Hank" Higdon, Managing Partner
Hank was the 2010 recipient of the "Gardner Heidrick Award," the single highest recognition given by the Association of Executive Search Consultants, for distinguished service in the executive search industry. Hank Higdon's experience in the executive recruiting industry spans close to 40 years, the first 15 of which were spent with Russell Reynolds Associates. At Russell Reynolds, Hank spent six years in New York before establishing and building the firm's Houston office. He then moved to Los Angeles to manage the firm's west coast operations that included offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Menlo Park. He served on the firm's five-person Executive Committee. In February 1986, Hank left to become Chairman and one of the founders of Higdon, Joys & Mingle, Inc., which evolved into Higdon Partners, and now into HigdonBraddockMatthews. Hank is a graduate of Yale University, and has been recognized as one of the top 100 executive search professionals in America in the book, Career Makers, published by Harper Collins, and is also included in The Global 200 Executive Recruiters, published by Jossey-Bass. For The Career Navigation Handbook: America's top executive recruiters on choosing and changing your career path published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. in 2004, Hank was selected to author the section on "Careers in Investment Management."
Derek Braddock, Managing Partner
Derek Braddock joined the firm in 2005 and previously had over nine years of experience in financial services, predominantly in sales and product management roles. At HigdonBraddockMatthews, his search experience has been focused on investment and sales/marketing professionals, notably in the alternative investments arena. Derek began his career at Lord, Abbett & Co. in mutual fund sales and marketing. He then joined Salomon Smith Barney, where he became an Assistant Vice President, Nasdaq Trading, specializing in high tech companies while working closely with research and research sales. After receiving his M.B.A. in 2000, he spent over four years at Charles Schwab Company in San Francisco with responsibility for overseeing Schwab Institutional's trading technology offering. Derek earned his B.A. from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Derek serves on the Association of Executive Search Consultants' (AESC) Americas Council and on the Board of Directors for Per Scholas, a non-profit organization focused on workforce development in low-income communities.
Maryann Bovich, Managing Partner
Maryann Bovich has over 25 years of recruiting experience, the majority of which has been focused on senior level recruiting in the asset and wealth management fields. In addition to servicing traditional asset management clients, she has considerable experience working with alternative investment firms such as hedge funds, fund of funds, and private equity firms, in recruiting both investment and non-investment professionals. Maryann joined Higdon, Joys & Mingle in 1986, after having spent her earlier years overseeing the recruiting function in the Sales and Trading area at Bankers Trust Company in New York. Maryann is a graduate of the University of Connecticut.
Jane Bierwirth, Managing Partner
Jane joined the firm in 2004 and has 12 years of executive search experience focused on the asset management industry. Jane recruits a range of investment and risk management professionals for institutional investors and family offices. She was previously a Managing Director at Korn/Ferry International in the Global Financial Markets practice. Prior to joining the search industry, Jane was an investor relations consultant for small-cap companies in the Northwest, and the Managing Editor of the Red Chip Review, a securities research publication. Jane began her career at the Chemical Banking Corporation, where she worked for more than 15 years, primarily in leveraged finance, private banking, and in the Chairman's office as his assistant for two years. Jane holds a B.A. from Lancaster University in England and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania.
Edward Fowler, Managing Partner
Ed Fowler re-joined the firm in 2007 having started his recruiting career with the firm over 17 years ago. He has conducted senior level searches throughout the investment management industry and has worked closely with the endowment and foundation community for over 15 years. Ed focuses primarily on investment and institutional sales & marketing professionals, but has also completed a number of general counsel, COO, and other senior management searches for a variety of asset management organizations. In addition to his recruiting experience, Ed co-founded and managed Referral Networks, a successful recruiting-related software start-up. He also spent three years at Wachtell Lipton, a leading New York law firm. Prior to re-joining HigdonBraddockMatthews, Ed spent four years running his own search firm which also focused exclusively on asset management. Ed graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Political Science and later earned an M.B.A. from the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. A native New Yorker, Ed currently lives in Charlottesville with his wife and daughter, and splits his time between New York and Virginia. He has been actively involved with the Boy Scouts, fund raising for The Taft School, and as a board member of a non-profit agency serving local children and families.
Christian T. Fabros, Associate
Christian joined the firm as an Associate in 2011. Prior to this position, he worked for two and one-half years as a Recruiting Manager with the New York-based Solomon Page Group, LLC, an executive search and temporary placement agency, within the firm's accounting and finance division. Christian received his B.A. in Government and Legal Studies from Bowdoin College in 2008.
Laurie Anne Eamma, Director of Research
Laurie Anne, who joined the firm in 2000, is involved in all phases of the search process, providing research on investment management firms (traditional and alternative), personnel movement, market/performance data, industry developments, etc. Prior to joining HigdonBraddockMatthews, she served for six years as a real estate paralegal with several New York law firms, including Willkie, Farr & Gallagher, and has experience in the fields of social work and education. Laurie Anne is a cum laude graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University (TX), earning her B.A. degree in both English and Sociology.
Lorraine Brennan, Partner, Administration
Lorraine Brennan has been associated with the firm since 1989. She has oversight responsibility for all operations and administration. Earlier in her career, Lorraine served in the fields of education, insurance, travel, and community affairs. She earned a B.A. in English Literature from the College of Mount St. Vincent in Riverdale, New York.
Eileen Cruz - Director of Office Services
Eileen Cruz joined the firm in 2001 and has responsibility for office administration, special projects, and employee relations, including training and development. Prior to her current role, she served as Director, Special Projects with the firm. Her previous experience includes roles at Russell Reynolds Associates and Heidrick & Struggles. Eileen earned her B.A. in Business Administration and Marketing, magna cum laude, from Felician College and an M.A. in Public and Organizational Relations, summa cum laude, from Montclair State University.
Boston Office
William R. Matthews III, Managing Partner
Bill joined the firm in 2008, and leads the firm's Boston office. He was most recently a Managing Director at Conley & Company, where for four years he directed the firm's Alternative Asset search activities, and specialized in recruiting senior investment professionals and non-investment professionals (e.g., investor relations, marketing, finance, operations, risk, compliance) for private equity firms and hedge fund managers. Earlier in his career, Bill worked for nine years as a lawyer and investment banker in Boston. He practiced commercial litigation at several firms, including Goodwin Procter, and worked as an investment banker in the Mergers and Acquisitions practice group at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. Bill holds a B.A. in history from Yale University and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin. He is National Association of Securities Dealers Series 7- and 63-certified (inactive), and is active with the alumni committees of Yale and St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire.
Erin McGrath Carroll, Principal
Erin helped establish the Boston office of HigdonBraddockMatthews in October 2008. Previously, she was a Senior Associate at Conley & Company, where she was responsible for recruiting senior investment and non-investment professionals for asset management, venture capital, and private equity firms. Erin earlier spent seven and one-half years in the asset management, private banking, and wealth management businesses of Merrill Lynch in New York and Boston. Before Merrill, she was an Associate at Douglas C. Lane & Associates, a New York based registered investment advisor. Erin received her B.S. in Business and Economics, cum laude, from Lehigh University in 1999.

Andrew W. Knox, Managing Partner, West Coast/Asia Pacific

Andy Knox joined HigdonBraddockMatthews LLC to open and build the Los Angeles Office, as well as expand the Firm's presence on the West Coast. He also works on behalf of clients with Asia/Pacific operations, as well as Asian clients with executive recruiting needs in Asia and the US.
Prior to joining HigdonBraddockMatthews,Andy was a Senior Client Partner in the Los Angeles office of Korn/Ferry International. With 30 years of experience in the executive recruiting industry, including 24 years with Korn/Ferry in the U.S. and Japan as a partner/shareholder, Andy has executed senior-level client work in the U.S. and internationally, including Asia/Pacific, Europe and Latin America. He has worked across industry sectors, geographic markets and functional disciplines, including financial services, consumer products and services, technology, professional services and entertainment.
Working from a base in Tokyo, Andy was responsible for Korn/Ferry's activities in Japan
and Korea from 1985 through 1990. He has worked extensively throughout Asia/ Pacific since returning to the US. Prior to joining Korn/Ferry, Andy spent four years in the Los Angeles office of Russell Reynolds Associates, Inc., another leading international executive recruiting firm. Andy entered the executive recruiting industry from Bank of America in Los Angeles. Andy played a leading role in the planning and the operational management of the aquatic competitions for both the 1984 (Los Angeles) and 1988 (Seoul) Summer Olympic Games.
Andy is a member of the Executive Committee of the Asia Society/Southern California Center and the Pacific Council on International Policy. He serves on the Board and is an officer of the Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games, the Board and Executive Committee of the Library Foundation of Los Angeles and served on the Board of the USA Swimming Foundation from its founding in 2003 through the end of 2010. Andy earned an MBA from the University of Southern California and a bachelor's degree in history from UCLA.
Katy Nishida is a Principal with HigdonBraddockMatthews in the Los Angeles office. She focuses on conducting senior level searches for asset management firms, including mutual funds, hedge funds, private equity firms, foundations, endowments, and family offices. Prior to joining HBM, she spent four years in Los Angeles as a Director with another national search firm focused on the investment management sector. Prior to her career in executive search, Katy was a Vice President in the Domestic Equity Research Sales Group at Sanford C. Bernstein in New York for four years, covering institutional investors in Chicago and New York. Earlier she worked as a Corporate Strategy Consultant in the Information, Communications and Media Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Los Angeles. She began her career as a film executive for Pandora Cinema/Paramount Pictures and Trans Pacific Films.
Katy received her B.A. degree in Psychology from UC Berkeley and her MBA at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern. A native of Los Angeles, she is actively involved with Kellogg's Alumni Club in Southern California, 100 Women in Hedge Funds, and is a member of the Step Up Women's Network.
